BenQ Launches EX3203R 32-inch QHD 1800R Gaming Monitor AMD FreeSync 2
Over on BenQ's website is a new product page for its EX3203R, a 32-inch class (31.5 inches) monitor utilizing a curved VA panel with a 2560x1440 (WQHD) resolution and blazing fast 144Hz refresh rate. The new display is also one of not many models (relatively speaking) to feature support for AMD's FreeSync 2 technology, which expands on the first-generation FreeSync protocol.
To bear the FreeSync 2 badge, a monitor must have support for Low Framerate Compensation (LFC). It also introduces improved support for high dynamic range (HDR) gaming.
"Gamers have spoken and they've made FreeSync™ the overwhelming choice and definitive industry standard for smooth, stutter-free gaming," AMD's Scott Herkelman said of FreeSync 2 when it was introduced last year. "Radeon FreeSync 2 technology is the first of its kind that combines HDR support with dynamic refresh rate technology, and does it in a seamless, plug-and-play manner that improves gaming quality automatically when the right content is present."
BenQ's new display has a brightness rating of 400 nits. There is no mention of the monitor carrying one of VESA's recently introduced DisplayHDR badge, though the brightness level would qualify for the entry-level DisplayHDR 400 certification (there are other requirements beyond just brightness). It also has a 3,000:1 contrast ratio (20,000,000:1 dynamic), 4ms response time, and 178-degree (horizontal and vertical) viewing angles.
As we are seeing on a greater number of displays these days, BenQ is pushing thin bezels on the EX3203R. Billed as an edge-to-edge design, BenQ suggests users can string multiple EX3203R monitors together for an expansive view that wraps around the viewer's peripheral vision (these panes have an 1800R curvature).
BenQ's product page also highlights the new display's color accuracy—it features 100 percent coverage of the Rec. 709 color space, and 90 percent coverage of the DCI-P3 standard.
Underneath the panel sits a USB-C port that can be used as a display connection or to charge devices. It also features a pair of USB 3.0 Type-A ports, two HDMI 1.4 ports, and a DisplayPort 1.2 connector.
BenQ has not said when this monitor will be available or for how much. As a point of reference, the company's older (and less featured) EX3200R sells on Amazon for $399.
