Bethesda’s E3 2019 Doom Eternal Tease Showcases A Seriously Cool Baddie

Doom Eternal
There are only a few days remaining until E3 kicks off, and we are expecting a bunch of spectacular reveals. Ahead of the event, publisher Bethesda has released a 16-second teaser hyping up Doom Eternal, the upcoming first-person shooter developed by id Software as a sequel to the 2016 Doom, which itself was the first major installment since Doom 3 in 2004.

Doom fans have been waiting a long time for Doom Eternal. Bethesda announced the game at last year's E3 with a longer announce teaser, followed by a gameplay reveal video at Quakecon 2018 a couple of months later. This latest clip, while short, gives fans some brand new footage to digest, culminating with a shot of what appears to be a former Slayer, who is now a hellaciously evil, axe-wielding bad guy.
"What you interfere with now is bigger than you can imagine," the narrator states is a seriously ominous and demonic tone. There's not much to the clip—the camera zooms around the depths of hell (or hell on Earth?), then transitions to a quick shot of the Doom Slayer, which players will control. Then it's a mad rush to the former Slayer before the screen goes black.

In Doom Eternal, demons have made their way out of hell and are invading Earth. It is up to the hero of the previous game, the Doom Slayer, to "blow apart new and classic demons" and send them back to hell. Bethesda promises an array of powerful weapons and "never-before-seen worlds."

"Experience the ultimate combination of speed and power as you rip-and-tear your way across dimensions with the next leap in push-forward, first-person combat," Bethesda says.

Doom Eternal Weapon

Doom Slayer will have updated armor to go along with new weapons, the latter of which will include a shoulder-mounted cannon with flamethrower, and an extendable blade. He will also have a new dash ability, which appears to be showcased in the latest teaser clip. In addition, the Super Shotgun is getting a Meat Hook attachment "to pull yourself point blank with the faces of hell."

Bethesda has not yet announced a precise release date, so far saying only that Doom Eternal will launch this year for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PC, and Google Stadia. However, it is holding a press conference on Sunday, June 9, at 5:30 pm PT (8:30 pm ET), in which we suspect it will reveal a release date.
