BJ Blazkowicz Returns In Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus To Kick Some Nazi Butt

Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus

Some things just never seem to get old. You know, things like watching the New England Patriots win the Super Bowl or cracking open a beer from a boat while fishing. It is a long list, and if we turn our attention to PC gaming, you can add killing Nazis to it. In case you need a fix in that department, Bethesda promises plenty of action in Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus, the first trailer of which was revealed at E3.

Bethesda teased a sequel to 2014's Wolfenstein: The New Order at last year's E3, but waited until now to make a formal reveal. This latest entry in the series follows The New Order along with its 2015 prequel Wolfenstein: The Old Blood. Like those two previous games, The New Colossus is set in alternate timeline in which the Nazis emerged victorious in World World 2.

For this latest game, protagonist B.J. Blazkowicz ("Terror-Billy") is back helping the United States lead the resistance. The year is 1961 and though a major event happened in The New Order (we won't spoil it in case you haven't played the game yet), the Nazis are still in control of the world.

"Only you have the guts, guns, and gumption to return stateside, kill every Nazi in sight, and spark the second American Revolution," Bethesda says.

The New Colossus is powered by the open source and multi-platform id Tech 6 game engine. As the successor to id Tech 5, the newer version was first used to create Doom (2016) and is known for supporting somewhat open worlds and destructible environments.

Bethesda says The New Colossus will feature iconic locations such as small-town Roswell, New Mexico, the flooded streets of New Orleans, and a post-nuclear Manhattan. There will be a variety of "badass guns," along with new abilities to obliterate Nazi soldiers, cyberborgs, and other enemies in what Bethesda is hyping as the "definitive first-person shooter."

The New Colossus will release on October 27, 2017, for PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.
