Boy Falls onto Subway Tracks While Playing PSP

People are too distracted nowadays by their electronics, and it isn't just distracted driving. Some have been run over by trains while texting, or hit by cars. In this case, a 10 year old boy nearly suffered the consequences of playing a portable video game while near some subway tracks.

It serves as another cautionary tale of too much electronic distraction. The incident occurred in Milan, Italy, and was caught on video. The 10-year-old boy was playing a video game on his PlayStation Portable (PSP) when he slipped off the platform and onto the tracks. Fortunately, off-duty police officer Alessandro Micalizzi, 23, was nearby, and he acted quickly.
"I just reacted with instinct - I saw him go over and he was lying on the track so I just jumped down, grabbed him and carried him to the platform. He was crying and shocked but other than that he was OK.

"He was with his mother and sister, and before he fell I saw them out of the corner of my eye and he was completely lost in his game and wasn't looking where he was going.

"I just had a few seconds because he had got off a train and mine was due in less than a minute so I acted as quickly as I could, making sure not to touch the rails."

This comes not too long after a woman, Cathy Cruz Marrero, 49, fell into a mall fountain while texting. The video was uploaded to YouTube and went viral. For a time, it seemed there might be legal action over the video, but then information about Marrero's own legal issues emerged.

This incident and the earlier one just show how humans, distracted by their electronics, need to be more careful. Watch the boy's rescue below.
