Brother Printer Orchestra Plays "The Times They Are a-Changin’"

People taking old hardware and tuning it to make music isn't anything new, but it's not often we see it done on a much grander scale. Today, we can, thanks to some geeks over at isthis.gd. Inspired by other "radical tinkerers", they set out to create a MIDI orchestra for the Grey London PR agency and Brother - a company that makes many things, but one thing we're all especially familiar with: printers.

Understanding that finding old gear was going to be a bit tough, they set out to a landfill, and apparently hit the mother-load. They took the good ones back to their workshop, tore them apart, and like any self-respecting geek, reverse-engineered them. This was necessary in order to get each printer to play the appropriate noise through a MIDI controller. Their song of choice? Bob Dylan's The Times They Are a-Changin'. Epic song for an epic setup.
