Bungie Makes Destiny 2 Official, Pre-Order For Beta Early Access, PC Gamers Get Ready

Destiny 2

There will be no more speculation on the matter, folks—Destiny 2 is indeed headed to the PC, developer Bungie has officially confirmed. It will also arrive on the Xbox One and PlayStation 4, though that was never really in question. After the first Destiny game launched to both consoles as well as previous generation Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 systems, there was an uproar from the PC community for a port.

A port never came, but even better, PC gamers will be able to play Destiny 2 on their preferred platform.

"This is a new beginning for every player. We know you have questions about the worlds you’ll explore, the enemies you’ll fight, the powers you’ll master, and (as Cayde promised) the loot you’ll earn. All will be answered in the weeks and months to come. It should be a hell of a ride," Bungie said.

"At this moment, our focus is the story we’re telling in Destiny 2. Up next, we’ll take a look at the gameplay. Your first opportunity to see Guardians in action will happen on May 18. We hope to have you all in the audience for the gameplay reveal livestream," Bungied added.

Bungie released a launch trailer for Destiny 2 that is a must-watch. It's equal parts drama and comedy. The story centers around the destruction of The Last City by the invading Cabal empire and the call to arms for revenge. Titan Vanguard Zavala riles up his troops with an inspiring speech, while Hunter Vanguar Cayde-6, well, takes a different approach. Just watch.

There will be multiple editions of Destiny 2, including a standard edition, an upgraded version with a season pass for future expansions, a digital deluxe edition with a season pass and bonus in-game content, and both limited and special editions for collectors. These will range in price from $60 to $250.

Destiny 2 lands on September 8. You can pre-order the game now, and if you do Bungie will give you early access to the beta release.
