This week’s San Diego Comic-Con was supposed to be a rather joyous occasion for the Sledgehammer Games. The dev studio has already revealed its involvement on the latest installment in the Call of Duty franchise, Call of Duty: WWII. However, Sledgehammer has been rather tight-lipped about the game's upcoming zombie mode.

Unfortunately for Sledgehammer, the trailer for the zombie mode leaked to the interwebs over the weekend, just days ahead of when it was scheduled to be unveiled for fans. For the folks that have worked long and hard on the zombie mode, which is titled “Army of the Dead”, the leak has been a bit of a bummer, obviously - though a leak is sometimes the best hype.

Glenn Schofield and Michael Condrey, both co-founders of Sledgehammer, quickly took to Twitter to express their disappointment, which Condrey imploring gamers to hold off watching the trailer until the July 20th reveal.

Schofield wasn’t nearly as diplomatic, and clearly shows that he was pissed about this recent turn of events:

From the footage that we’ve seen from the trailer, Army of the Dead looks like a gory and hellish trip into a Nazi-controlled zombie land. And judging by some of the commentary in the trailer, it looks as though the zombies are indeed part of the “Fourth Reich”.

Call of Duty: WWII marks a long overdue return to the second world war, and looks to bring back all the gritty realism that made the original games such a hit. Call of Duty: WWII will be available for both the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One as well as the PC (Dare we salute #MasterRace ?). The game officially launches for all three platforms on November 3rd.
