Citizen Avenger Makes Tech-Filled Replica Of Thor's Hammer That Only He Can Lift

A rather resourceful YouTuber by the name of Allen Pan may not descend from Odin, but has proved that he has the magic touch when it comes to lifting Mjolnir. You see, Pan is an avid Marvel fan, and as such had visions of creating his own Mjolnir (aka, Thor’s hammer). But rather than create a replica that just anyone could lift, Pan’s Mjolnir can only be lifted by him.

So how did Allen Pan achieve such a feat? Well, there are a few tricks and environmental conditions that one must take into account to pull of his “trick.” Pan’s Mjolnir looks like any garden variety replica that you might see at Comic Con, but it’s what’s on the inside that makes this hammer truly special.

Mjolnir

Inside, you’ll find an Arduino Pro Mini microcontroller board, a solid state relay, an electromagnetic transformer from a microwave oven, and four 12-volt SLA batteries. Put it all together and you have an incredibly power magnetic that is nearly impossible for mere mortals to lift when it is placed onto a stationary (and well secured) metal object.

“Whosoever is carrying Thor's fingerprints is, I think, the literal translation.” Those words were uttered by Tony Stark in Avengers: Age of Ultron. Pan took those words to heart by incorporating a capacitive touch sensor into the handle of Mjolnir. The sensor only recognizes Pan’s fingerprint, thus giving only him the power to wield Mjolnir.

And with that in mind, Pan took to the streets to get everyday people the chance to lift Mjolnir only to be embarrassed over and over again with failure. We won’t give anything else away, but be sure to check out the video below to see Pan’s Mjolnir hijinks in action:
