Clueless Gamer Conan O'Brien Rips Final Fantasy XV To Shreds With Elijah Wood 'An Aggressive Wasting Of Time'

Square Enix is set to release Final Fantasy XV to the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One later this month. It's the fifteenth main installment in the Final Fantasy series, one of the most popular gaming franchises that has been sending players on quests for nearly three decades. Final Fantasy has stood the test of time, but can it stand up to scrutiny by Conan O'Brien, otherwise known as The Clueless Gamer?

Anyone familiar with The Clueless Gamer knows what to expect from a Conan O'Brien evaluation—lots of laughs, basically. This time around, avid gamer and fantasy actor Elijah Wood comes along for the ride, joining Conan in taking an early look at Final Fantasy XV.

The duo wastes no time in getting in dishing out the hilarity. Right off the bat, Conan observes that Final Fantasy XV is like "Middle Earth Entourage and comparing the cast of characters to a boy band.

"It's the guys left from N-SYNC, this is what they do now, they jog in the desert in leather," Conan says after being exasperated that the game has players pushing a broken down car towards Las Vegas.

After a couple of minutes of gameplay, the scene jumps to Venice. Though the setting is different, the wise-cracking gamers are no less dumbfounded at some of the dialogue and storylines in Final Fantasy XV.

"I've never been this confused by a game in my life and that is really saying something," Conan says as the characters stand in front of a shop and stare at a wedding dress that they apparently read about in a newspaper. "Are we meant to be confused?"

Not long after, the two are riding on chickens through the desert, to which Conan exclaims, "This is an aggressive waste of time."

The final verdict? Conan concludes, "This whole thing is like an epic blue balls waste of time," though the laughs continue. What Conan didn't realize is that the developers were outside his room listening the whole time to him "viciously complain" about the game, and the only way out of the room is to walk past them. Oops!

"What's happening now is more thrilling than anything that happened in this game!," Conan says.

It's not exactly a ringing endorsement, but it is par for course for The Clueless Gamer, hence the name of the series. For anyone not put off by Conan's evaluation, Final Fantasy releases November 29.
