Computing Through A Porthole? Dell, HP, Samsung To The Rescue!

Throw away your scroll mouse. They're not cheap, but the big screen manufacturers are starting to offer big ol' 30" LCD screens for this holiday season. DigiTimes has a nice rundown on the latest and greatest from the big three.

First-tier LCD vendors such as Dell, Samsung Electronics and Hewlett Packard (HP) recently all announced availability of their extra large-size LCD monitors in the market. Last week, Dell introduces its first 30-inch widescreen LCD monitor (UltraSharp 3007WFP-HC). The features of the product include resolution of 2,560×1,600 (WQXGA), height-adjustable stand with tilt and swivel capabilities, integrated 9-in-2 media card reader and four USB 2.0 ports for connecting devices such as digital still cameras (DSCs) and printers. The model also has a 92% color gamut, utilizing a wide cold-cathode fluorescent lighting (W-CCFL), which is ideal for gaming application, according to Dell. Dell expects to offer the 30-inch model later this quarter in the US, with prices starting at US$1,699, said the company.
