Dell and Toshiba Expanding Battery Recalls

The news is just not getting any better for Sony.  On top of Lenovo's recall yesterday of just over a half million batteries, Dell has upped their number of recalls from 4.1 to 4.2 million.  In addition Toshiba has upped their number by 830,000 and Fujitsu is currently pondering a voluntary recall on batteries for their systems.  All in all, this has to be one of the single biggest manufacturing blunders in computer history and is certainly putting a hurt on Sony's reputation.

Dell has increased by 100,000 the number of laptop batteries it is recalling due to a potential fire hazard, while Toshiba said it would take part in Sony voluntary battery replacement program kicked off Thursday. Fujitsu indicated that it was also considering a voluntary recall.
