Dell Brings QHD+ Panel And WiGig Docking Station Support To New Precision Notebooks
While some consumers are passing right over the laptop en route to their next tablet, Dell realizes that the world still has plenty of professionals who need high-specced machines in order to get real work done on the go. Hence, the introduction of the new Precision M4800 and M6800. With these new mobile workstations, Dell becomes the first to bring a 15.6-inch Quad HD+ IGZO panel to the workstation market, with higher resolution than the Apple MacBook Pro Retina display, and the only to offer optional 10-finger Wacom multi-touch on a 17.3-inch display for intuitive control and interaction with creative and design applications. Dell is also the first to offer WiGig wireless docking and has improved audio performance with WAVES MaxxAudio Pro integration.
Users will be able to select up to 16GB of 1866MHz memory, a fourth-generation Core i5 or i7 processor, AMD FirePro or NVIDIA Quadro graphics, and a secondary battery that adds up to "all day life." Interestingly, Dell is letting the pros choose between Windows 7 and Windows 8 here, or their favorite version of Linux. The M4800 starts at $1249, while the M6800 starts at $1599.
