Dell's Kaby Lake XPS 15 Refresh Makes An Accidental Cameo With Pascal GPU Riding Shotgun

There are two big additions to the XPS 15 9650, with the first one being the appearance of Intel’s seventh-generation Kaby Lake processors (Core i3-7100HQ, Core i5-7300HQ and Core i7-7700HQ). If you’ve read the HotHardware review of the XPS 13 Kaby Lake refresh, then you know what to expect when it comes to performance. As you might have already surmised, RAM maxes out at 32GB (take that, Apple MacBook Pro), while storage maxes out at 1TB with either a PCIe SSD or traditional HDD.

The other big news is that the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960M with 2GB of onboard memory is being tossed aside in favor of something with a zesty Pascal flavor. In this case, you’ll find a mobile GeForce GTX 1050 GPU paired with 4GB of onboard memory. In desktop form, NVIDIA’s entry-level Pascal chip is available in both GTX 1050 and GTX 1050 Ti variants. It is unknown which chip will find its way into the XPS 15 9650, as Dell didn’t specify before the page was pulled.
