Dell's Refreshed XPS 13 2-in-1 Now On Sale With 10nm Intel Ice Lake CPUs
Now, one of the first machines packing these new Ice Lake-based processors is available to purchase, and it comes from Dell. The XPS 13 2-in-1 (7390) was first announced back at Computex, and represents a huge step up in performance compared to its predecessor.
Base systems come with the Core i3-1005G1, which is a dual-core, quad-thread processor with a base clock of 1.2GHz, single-core turbo of 3.4GHz and an all-core turbo of 3.4GHz. Top-spec models come with the Core i7-1065G7, which is a quad-core, octa-thread processor. This chip has a base clock of 1.3GHz, single-core turbo of 3.9GHz and an all-core turbo frequency of 3.5GHz.
Both processors have TDP ranges of 15W to 25W, but Dell is spec'ing its processors at 15W. Besides the core counts and clock speed differences, the Core i3 part has just 4MB L3 cache and 32 execution units for the GPU compared to 8MB and 64 EUs for its Core i7 counterpart.
The new XPS 13 2-in-1 features a larger 13.4-inch (16:10) Infinity Edge display with thinner bezels available in FHD+ (1920x1200) or UHD+ (3840x2400) resolutions. Systems can be configured with up to 32GB LPDDR4x memory and up to a 1TB NVMe PCIe SSD. You'll also find a couple of Thunderbolt 3 ports, Killer AX1650 802.11ax Wi-Fi, a microSD reader, and a Windows Hello fingerprint reader integrated into the power button.
The new Dell XPS 13 2-in-1 (7390) is available to order right now priced from $999 with a Core i3-1005G1, 4GB RAM, a 256GB SSD and a FHD+ display. Top-end trims start at $2,099 with a Core i7-1065G7, 16GB RAM, a 512GB SSD and a UHD+ display.
