PALO ALTO, Calif., May 19, 2009 – Extending its expertise in USB graphics technology, DisplayLink Corp. has launched three new processors that deliver even more performance and power to USB 2.0 graphics applications – and are already deployed in Samsung’s new LapFit USB companion monitors - Lapfit LD190N and LG220G. These new members of the DisplayLink USB graphics processor family – the DL-125, DL-165 and DL-195 – make it possible to easily connect additional monitors using USB-connected docking stations, monitors, mini-monitors, projectors and adapters. The new silicon and software solution provide a high level of integration for USB graphics devices, support higher HD display resolutions, and have software and hardware advances that increases the overall performance allowing for smoother video playback and interactivity.

The DL-1x5 Series integrate a Hi-Speed USB 2.0 compliant device input and multiple video outputs including DVI (TMDS), analog (DSUB15), as well as LVDS for direct connection to a LCD panel and 12/24-bit RGB (TTL) for connectivity to external DisplayPort or HDMI devices. The integrated DVI and analog video DAC mean less design work and expense for device manufacturers. All video outputs support 32-bit True Color and increased resolutions, providing a high-quality graphics and support for full-screen HD video playback. Maximum supported resolutions for all three products are:
- Up to 2048 x 1152 for the DL-195, designed for high-end monitors, docking stations and adapters.
- Up to 1920 x 1080 for the DL-165, designed for cost effective docks, mainstream monitors and adapters.
- Up to 1440x1050 for the DL-125, designed for entry-level monitors, mini-monitors and projectors.
A complete DisplayLink USB Graphics Solution consists of a DisplayLink processor in the peripheral device (monitor, dock, adapter, and projector) and software installed on the PC, notebook or netbook. This unique “plug and display” solution eliminates the hassle of opening up PCs to add discrete graphics card, while also saving time and energy use.
The intelligent image processing algorithms, coupled with the high performance (DDR) memory interface and DisplayLink DL2+ adaptive compression scheme ensures a highly interactive, ultra low latency user experience that is nearly indistinguishable from a traditional monitor connection. This allows smooth window, cursor movement and support for full-screen video playback.
The software automatically determines the most suitable type, resolution and key features for each display, allowing for a fast and error free setup. This configuration is then automatically remembered between sessions and the user does not have to re-configure each time they connect or disconnect the external displays.
In addition, the DisplayLink Graphical User Interface (GUI) software driver provides simple usability features that make managing the desktop a snap – change resolution, color quality, screen orientation, and expansion or extension of the desktop in a click. DisplayLink’s software fully integrates with the Operating System including Microsoft Windows Vista (32-bit and 64-bit), including Vista Aero 3D, and Windows XP, along with Intel-based Apple Mac OS X and includes an MSI Installer for corporate-wide installation.

DL-1x5 Availability
DisplayLink’s new DL-125/165 and 195 processors are available to system manufacturers today. . Consumers can find the technology first in the SyncMaster Lapfit LD190N and LG220G monitors, now available in Asia and Europe. Demonstrated earlier this year, the Lapfit monitors are specifically designed as a companion display for notebooks and netbooks and are easily USB connected for instant expansion of the visual workspace. At 18.5 inches and 21.5 inches, respectively, the Samsung SyncMaster LapFit displays also feature adjustable tilt so they can be aligned perfectly with a user’s notebook screen angle.
