Dissidia Final Fantasy NT Brawler Crosses Over To PlayStation 4 In 2018

If you're a fan of the Final Fantasy series, and also brawlers, then you're in for a real treat come early 2018. Assuming that you own a PlayStation 4, because Dissidia Final Fantasy NT is exclusive to the Sony platform.

Dissidia Final Fantasy NT is a follow-up to the arcade-only game of the same name (minus the 'NT') that came out in 2015. It's a team-based (3v3) brawler that includes over 20 playable FF characters (including villains) with battles taking place across 10 iconic battle arenas. If you never played Dissidia Final Fantasy but have been a fan of the overarching series for a while, then this game is sure to trigger the nostalgic part of your brain many times over.

This upcoming brawler is written by acclaimed writer Kazushige Nojima, who's been responsible for some other recent FF games, as well as Kingdom Hearts and its sequel. Like any good RPG, Dissidia Final Fantasy NT will give players many opportunities to upgrade their characters through the accumulation of XP and Gil. Perhaps most intriguing is the fact that a unique "bravery" combat system will be used, helping to separate luck from skill.

When released, Dissidia Final Fantasy NT will help celebrate the series' 30th birthday, which happens this December. The first game in the series was released for the NES, simply called Final Fantasy, and compared to other RPGs of the time (including Dragon Warrior) it offered more than the usual complexity to keep people coming back. Whoever played the original back in 1987 likely didn't realize just what the series would become!

If you're already salivating at what Dissidia Final Fantasy NT has to offer, mark June 13 (3:15PM PT) on your calendars, as that's when the game's producer and director will take to YouTube to conduct a panel.
