DJI Mavic 2 Pro And Zoom Drones Announced With Hasselblad Camera And 2x Optical Zoom Options
The Mavic 2 Zoom incorporates a 24-48mm 2x optical zoom lens with a 1/2.3-inch CMOS sensor (12MP). Aperture ranges from f/2.8 to f/3.8, while ISO goes from 100 to 3200 for both stills and video. In addition, the camera is capable of capturing 4K video at 30fps, 2.7K video at 60fps and 1080p video at 120fps.
The Mavic 2 Pro, on the other hand, has a pro-worthy Hasselblad camera with a 1-inch CMOS sensor (20MP). It features a 10-bit video codec, a 28mm wide-angle lens along with variable aperture of f/2.8 to f/11. The ISO range for the camera ranges covers 100 to 12800 (video) or 100 to 6500 (for still shots). Videos modes mirror that available on the Mavic 2 Zoom.
Given the Hasselblad branding, we're expecting top-notch image quality over previous versions of the Mavic and even the Mavic 2 Zoom. However, if there's any disappointing news on the cameras front, it's that neither is capable of shooting 4K video at 60fps. With that being said, there's 8GB of onboard storage, which can be expanded with a microSD card to store all of your photos and video.
On the performance front, both drones are capable of traveling at up to 44mph and can stay aloft for up to 31 minutes. Video can be transmitted from the drone at 1080p resolution from a distance of up to 5 miles, which is quite an achievement thanks to OcuSync 2.0 (can automatically switch between 2.4GHz and 5GHz). Other features of note include omni-directional obstacle detection, which should help you avoid from having a costly run in with trees and other objects when navigating tight spots to get the perfect shot.
There’re also new camera modes, including HyperLapse while lets you take professional-grade time-lapse videos. Dolly Zoom (which is exclusive to the Mavic 2 Zoom) allows you to warp your visual viewpoint as the drone flies backwards while the camera zooms in.
The Mavic 2 Zoom and Mavic 2 Pro are launching today priced at $1,249 and $1,449 respectively.
