Dodge Challenger SRT Demon Will Be Faster And Even More Hellacious Than The Unruly Hellcat

If you thought that the Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat was the ultimate in over-the-top MOPAR excess, you haven’t seen anything yet. In case you didn’t get the memo, the Challenger SRT Hellcat is powered by a beastly, supercharged 6.2-liter Hemi V8 engine that cranks out a staggering 707 horsepower and 650 foot-pounds of torque.

The Challenger SRT Hellcat is capable of ripping off 3.7-second 0-60 times and can cover the 1/4-mile dash in 11.7 seconds at a staggering 125 mph. But of course, that simply isn’t enough, right? We need more power, faster acceleration, and more speed! That’s where the Demon comes into play.

The Demon will be the “ultimate performance halo” and will likely produce even more power than the already insane Hellcat. If Dodge does manage to extract more power from the 6.2-liter premium fuel swiller, it’s nearly guaranteed that the Demon will feature the all-wheel-drive (AWD) system that was recently launched on the Challenger GT. Sending so much power to just the rear wheels can pose some… challenges, so having AWD traction could allow the vehicle to better put power to the pavement.

“Most cars attempt to be everything to everybody. Then there are the rare few that revel in a single objective, rendering them totally irresistible to a subculture," said Dodge brand chief Tim Kuniskis. "The Dodge Challenger SRT Demon is conceived, designed and engineered for a subculture of enthusiasts who know that a tenth is a car and a half second is your reputation."

In the lead-up to the April unveil, Dodge has released the first of 12 teaser videos that will highlight the Demon. Called “Cage”, the somewhat hokey video with a CGI, bionic Hellcat creature is released from a cage, tears into a fuel can and then transforms into a ravenous Demon. Hopefully the next teaser will be a bit more substantive and less corny.

The Challenger SRT Demon will make its debut at the 2017 New York Auto Show in April. To find out more information about the Demon, you can visit ifyouknowyouknow.com
