Here’s How To Download Android 8.0 Oreo System Updates For Google Nexus Or Pixel Smartphones

Well, that didn’t take long. Just moments after officially revealing Android 8.0 Oreo, system images are now available for download. This comes right after Google pushed the source code to AOSP.

If you login to Google’s developer site, you will find system images for all hardware that currently supports Android 8.0 Oreo. In this case, device supports extends to the Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P, Nexus Player, the [oddball] Pixel C, Pixel and Pixel XL.

Google of course gives the warning that installing a factory Android 8.0 Oreo image will completely wipe all the data from the target device, but of course, you already knew that. However, if you’re new to this whole image flashing thing, Google has a handy guide to help you figure things out, which you can view right here.

While system images are currently available, the over-the-air (OTA) update mechanism for Nexus and Pixel devices is still a work-in-progress. Those who have already enrolled in the Android O Beta Program that have been “targeted’ by Google are beginning to receive the update in waves.
