Elon Musk Posts SpaceX Epic Blooper Reel Packed With Michael Bay-Certified Explosions

Space travel is not easy, folks. Nobody knows this better than Elon Musk, founder and CEO of Space Exploration Technologies (SpaceX). During his time overseeing the development and manufacturing of advanced rockets and spacecraft for missions to and beyond Earth's orbit, he has witnessed several fiery crashes. That is what testing is for. To Musk's credit, he maintains a good sense of humor about it all and has even compiled a two-minute YouTube video filled with glorious rocket fails and explosions. Michael Bay would be proud.

This is essentially a blooper reel, though probably unlike any blooper reel you have seen before. Rather than a montage of athletes getting stuffed by the rim while attempting a dunk or fumbling a football just before cross the goal line, these are costly bloopers in which expensive parts go up in flames. Failed rocket after failed rocket fill the video with sometimes amusing captions. In one of the sequences, the caption reads, " It's just a scratch." Another one reads, "Rocket is fine?" as the camera pans to show an epic wreckage with bits of metal everywhere.


It is a humorous collection (and thankfully nobody was hurt during all this), but also informational in parts. In addition to funny captions, some of the descriptions tell what exactly went wrong, such as running out of liquid nitrogen or hydraulic fluid. One of the crashes was caused by a sticky throttle valve, causing the rocket to tip over as it attempted takeoff over the ocean. Luckily for us, there were cameras to document the failed the attempt.

In one of the shots of a launchpad where a rocket exploded, the caption reads, "It's just a rapid unscheduled disassembly." The ability to take all this in stride is one of the reasons why the video now has 22,000 likes and just 90 dislikes on YouTube. Do yourself a favor and give it a watch during your coffee break or whenever you find yourself free for a couple of minutes. It will be the best thing you watch on the Internet today.
