Ematic Serves Up Inexpensive eGlide XL Pro 2 Android 4.0 Tablet
The secret to Android's success in the tablet space is going to be the various manufacturers' ability to launch lower cost slates, a point that was proven when Amazon debuted its $199 Kindle Fire tablet, which quickly became the second best selling slate behind the mighty iPad. The Kindle Fire, of course, is more of a glorified eBook reader that measures just 7 inches. As far as full-sized 10-inch slates go, Ematic thinks it has a winner on its hands with its new eGlide XL Pro 2, an Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) tablet priced at a reasonable $220.
The specs won't blow you away -- it has a 1GHz processor, 400MHz GPU, 1GB of RAM, 4GB of internal storage, 5GB of cloud storage, and a microSD card -- but its price point could prove highly attractive to potential tablet owners who don't need a ton of bells and whistles.
