EUROCOM Equips 17" D900F Panther Notebook With Core i7-980X Extreme Edition

EUROCOM has been known to go overboard when it comes to notebooks, though some may say they're just going beyond the call of duty in order to offer up cutting-edge products to their customers. Intel's new Core i7-980X "Gulftown" has been quite the hit in the desktop world, but given the massive heat output, it has yet to find its way into a notebook. And for good reason; Intel never intended for this chip to be used in a laptop.

That's not stopping EUROCOM from doing the impossible, though, as the new D900F Panther can be ordered with either the 3.33GHz Core i7-980X Extreme Edition or the new Xeon W56xx CPUs. Desktop-level CPUs have been found every so often in larger notebooks, but this is a real feat. We can't believe that EUROCOM has managed to get this into a laptop so fast, and as you'd expect, the rest of the specifications are equally impressive. Up to 24GB of DDR3 RAM, a 17" display, up to 2.4TB of hard drive space (up to 4 HDDs), NVIDIA's GTX 285 or Quadro FX 2800/3800 GPUs and an optional RAID setup.

You can customize the machine to your liking right now, but the 980X rig starts at $3675. Starts. Good luck affording it, and good luck lugging this thing around!
