EVGA Announces GeForce RTX 2080 Ti Black Edition Priced At $999, Update: Custom RGB RTX 2080 $799

Considering the amount of hype that led to the launch of NVIDIA's GeForce RTX series, it seemed obvious that the cards were going to be mighty elusive once they hit retail. That turned out to be just the case, although perhaps less surprising than the lack of availability was the lack of cards being sold for NVIDIA's suggested price of $999.

Whether $999 is a lot of money or not depends on your perspective, but for a new top-end graphics card, it certainly isn't what we've expected, given historical trends. Nonetheless, if you are willing to cough up $999, but not $1,200, your options have been truly limited. Fortunately, EVGA seems to understand that issue, and has finally launched an official $999 variant.

EVGA RTX 2080 Ti Black Edition 02

The new card is called the RTX 2080 Ti Black Edition, and with an all-black design with acrylic face plate, the result is a very attractive graphics card. It's one that should cool well, too, since it sports new "hydro dynamic bearing" fans plastered with mini EVGA logos that help reduce noise and increase fan lifespan. It even includes a free "trim kit" which will allow you to spice the card up with red or white trim in lieu of the black.

While the "Black Edition" name gives the impression that the card could be factory overclocked, this model is spec'd identically to the reference RTX 2080 Ti. That means we have a 1545MHz boost clock, and 14GHz memory clocks delivering 616 GB/s of bandwidth.

At the moment, the Black Edition isn't actually in stock, but you can sign up to be notified of availability on the product page. If you're a little miffed at the lack of stock, don't fret: every single other EVGA RTX 2080 Ti model (five!) is currently unavailable as well.

Update: 10/27/18 - 2:18PM - EVGA also has their custom RGB-lit GeForce RTX 2080 XC Gaming card up selling for $799 now, or an Ultra version for $849.
