Facebook Connect Comes To Nintendo's DSi--Smile!

Do you know what happens when you sell millions upon millions of units with no signs of slowing down? A couple of things, really. First off, your investors rejoice. Secondly, the planet's most pervasive social networks wants everything to do with you. Starting this week, proud Nintendo DSi owners here in American and in Japan can access Facebook Connect right on their handheld, which is a definitely step forward in finally taking advantage of the Wi-Fi capabilities that Nintendo oftentimes downplays in its machines.

Using an Internet-connected Nintendo DSi system and the Nintendo DSi Camera application, Facebook members can take pictures with either of the system’s two cameras and upload their photos directly to their Facebook profile. Before, such a feat was only accomplished by having a smartphone of some sort or one of Sony's Wi-Fi cameras. Now, even DSi owners can snap and share whenever they are around a wireless Internet hotspot.

While reviewing pictures they’ve stored in the Nintendo DSi Camera album, which includes photos taken by users and manipulated using the built-in interactive lenses, users can simply tap the Facebook icon on the system’s touch screen to instantly transmit photos to the user’s Facebook profile. If you're eager to get in on the action, fire up your handheld and get near some Internet; a free system update should be waiting for you to download.
