Fans Bring Back Half Life Game Series: Black Mesa Mod Launches September 14th
"On September 14th you will see the first release of Black Mesa!," Black Mesa project leader, Carlos Montero, stated in a forum post. "This will include our re-envisioning of Half-Life all the way up to Lambda Core. We believe this is a great way to provide a complete-feeling 8-10 hour experience with a solid ending, make our fans happy and help us make the best overall game possible."
Black Mesa will deliver Half Life as you've never seen it before. It will have all new graphics, maps, a new soundtrack, updated voice acting, support for multi-core processors, hardware accelerated face animation, and other goodies.
The project came about after Valve released its own Source-inspired port of Half Life in 2004 (Half Life: Source) to disappointing reviews. Gamers were expecting a larger graphical overhaul than what Valve delivered. Black Mesa aims to be the port fans have always wanted, and it's nearly ready to download. Here are a few screenshots to get you fired up.
Black Mesa itself will be free, though you will need a copy of any Source engine game on Steam to play it.
