Ferrari SF90 Stradale Hybrid Hypercar Shreds Rubber With Head-Pinning 1000 Horsepower

Ferrari has just unleashed its latest supercar hypercar; yet another vehicle that will be unfortunately likely be garaged for the rest of its life by its future owner, only seen the sunlight on the rare appearance at a car show. But the realities of hypercar ownership don't distract from the sheer awesomeness that is the new SF90 Stradale.

At its heart is a slightly enlarged 4.0-liter version of the twin-turbocharged V8 engine found in the 488 Tributo. Thanks to some internal modifications and an improved fuel delivery system, this new engine now pumps out a healthy 769 horsepower on its own. For comparison, the 488 Tributo "only" generated 710 horsepower from its 3.9-liter mill.

But Ferrari doesn't stop there; there are also a total of three electric motors installed in this brutish machine that are fueled by a 7.9 kWh battery pack. There is one 84 horsepower motor attached to each of the two front wheels, while there's a 148 horsepower third motor directly bolted onto the transmission. Given a fully charged battery pack, you're looking at a total combined 217 horsepower from the electric drivetrain. Added to the 4.0-liter V8, we're sitting at a monstrous 986 horsepower -- just shy of 1,000 horsepower.

An 8-speed, dual-clutch transmission directs power to the rear wheels, while the front wheels are on their own to provide an electronically-controlled all-wheel drive setup with torque-vectoring. Put it all together, and the 3,461-pound SF90 Stradale can launch from a standstill to 60 mph in just 2.5 seconds, while top speed is listed at a dizzying 211 mph. And for those that want to live the "green life", Ferrari says that the SF90 Stradale can travel roughly 15 miles on battery power alone.

From a styling standpoint, the SF90 Stradale clearly embraces Ferrari's current design language and includes a mashup of elements from the 488 Pista488 GTB and Ferrari LaFerrari. We count no less than four displays within the cabin (three of them touch-enabled) including a massive instrument cluster behind the steering wheel. A heads-up display is also included for maximum focus during track sessions.

At this point, Ferrari hasn't announced pricing for the SF90 Stradale, but if you have to ask...
