First Look: ATI RD600 CrossFire Xpress 3200 IE

We're unsure as to how things are going to play out in the long-run due to the recently announced AMD/ATI merger, but in the short term ATI still has a few products in the works for the Intel platform.  One such product, the upcoming RD600 chipset, is under the microscope at TweakTown. They've got some information regarding performance and overclockability, but testing was done on a reference board and there are no comparison numbers for reference. The writer also states that SLI has been officially enabled on the 975X Express chipset which isn't true - at least not yet.

"That completes our initial first look at ATI's upcoming RD600 chipset from our top secret location in Taiwan. It is quite clear to see that even before we have had the chance to get our hands on a finely tweaked retail motherboard, the RD600 is going to very popular with gamers and overclockers. Performance is up there with Intel 975X and we overclocking is a dream - perfect for users wanting top notch value for money, which is one of the fundamental reasons overclocking first become popular back in the days of Intel 440BX motherboards and Celeron 300A processors."
