Fitbit Bills $200 Versa As Lightest Metal Smartwatch In The US Boasting 4+ Days Battery Life

Fitbit Versa

Fitbit is taking another stab at the smartwatch market after its first attempt with the Ionic fell short of expectations. The new Fitbit Versa introduces a much better looking design (subjectively speaking) with rounded corners instead of the sharp rectangular look of its predecessor. Fitbit also claims that the Versa is the lightest metal smartwatch in the United States, if that is something you are concerned with.

The other bragging point is that the battery purportedly lasts four days or more on a single charge. If that claim holds true, it would make the Versa an attractive option. That is not the only thing Fitbit is banking on though.

Fitbit's focus on health is on full display here. The new Versa offers 24/7 heart rate tracking and offers onscreen workouts. It also features automatic sleep stages tracking to ensure you're getting a proper night's rest. Tying into it all is a new female health tracking mode that will be introduced later this year. It will help women track their menstrual cycles, view holistic health data in one place, and better understand connections to their overall health, the company says.

"As the wearables category continues to grow, Fitbit Versa fills a critical need in the market by delivering a beautifully designed, full-featured smartwatch that is easy to use at a very competitive price," said James Park, co-founder and CEO of Fitbit. "Versa brings consumers the advanced health and fitness features Fitbit is known for, along with broad compatibility across mobile platforms and 4+ days battery life to provide users with a better picture of their overall health, making it stand out from any smartwatch available today."

To be clear, Fitbit isn't pitching the Versa as a woman's-only smartwatch, but for everyone—women, men, parents, and kids. There are three main color options, including black/black aluminum, peach/rose gold aluminum, and gray/silver aluminum. Fitbit also carries a couple of special edition versions, including charcoal woven/graphite aluminum and lavendar woven/rose gold aluminum.

The versa is available to preorder now for $200, or $230 for the special edition models.
