Fortnite is a widely popular battle royale-style game, even surpassing Player Unknown's Battlegrounds, which arguably popularized the genre. Given its popularity, the game has been brought to the majority of today's modern gaming platforms including the PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, iOS and even macOS. However, two platforms that have been left out of the mix so far have been Android (support is coming this summer) and the Nintendo Switch.

We're learning today that it might not be long before the Nintendo Switch version of the game is made available. Leaked materials purportedly show a rundown of Nintendo Switch games that will be on display at E3, and Fornite is prominently featured.

The leak originally came from 4chan, which could lead one to question its legitimacy, but Kotaku adds that it has separately verified a number of the other games that appear on the document that are destined for the Nintendo Switch. Along with Fortnite, these additional titles are expected at E3:

  • Dragon Ball FighterZ
  • Monster Hunter Generations
  • FIFA 19
  • Killer Queen Black
  • StarLink
  • Paladins
  • Overcooked! 2
  • Mario Tennis Aces

Fortnite's availability on the Nintendo Switch should only add to the hordes of cash that Epic Games is pulling in from the title. Fortnite is free-to-play, but gamers can choose to pay for cosmetic items and in-game dance moves. You can also fork over cash for a Battle Pass season subscription (which will cost you $10). It's reported that Epic Games raked in $126 million in revenue from Fortnite during the month of February and more than doubled that tally to $296 million in the month of March.

With that kind of revenue generation, it should come as no surprise that Epic Games announced a Fortnite eSports tournament with a $100 million prize pool.
