Here's The Fossil Gen 5 Smartwatch Leaked With Specs

Fossil Gen 5 Smartwatches
Fossil is brimming with excitement over its upcoming smartwatch launch, having teased on Twitter over the weekend that "something big is coming Monday." Well, forget about waiting another day. A leaked photo showing two models of Fossil's 5th generation smartwatches has found its way online, along with a rundown of some of the specs.

Both smartwatches sport circular faces, one with gold and black trim, and the other an all-black version. We also get to see two different bands, including a metallic one with a clasp, and a standard rubber wrist band with a traditional buckle design. The bands are presumably interchangeable.

According to the Reddit user qwertx21, the specs are as follows...
Qwertx21 also mentions a combo microphone/speaker, which is in line with Fossil's Twitter post that hints at a speaker, as well as a built in heart rate monitor. Fossil will undoubtedly boast a wider feature-set, but for now, those are supposedly the core specs for 5th generation lineup.

This is turning out to be a good year for Fossil. Back in January, the company announced that Google was purchasing $40 million worth of intellectual property pertaining to its smartwatch technologies, giving it a decent infusion of cash. Google also acquired part of its research and development team.

"Fossil Group has experienced significant success in its wearables business by focusing on product design and development informed by our strong understanding of consumers’ needs and style preferences," Greg McKelvey, Fossil Group's Executive Vice President and Chief Strategy and Digital Officer, sad at the time. "We’ve built and advanced a technology that has the potential to improve upon our existing platform of smartwatches. Together with Google, our innovation partner, we’ll continue to unlock growth in wearables."

Now seven months later, one of the most prominent manufacturers of Wear OS smartwatches is getting ready to debut a new generation of wearables. Stay tuned for more information.
