Fossil ‘Q Founder’ Android Wear Smartwatch Wields Intel Power, Priced From $275

The growing list of manufacturers jumping on the Android Wear bandwagon today grew by one. Fossil has announced its new Q Founder which will take on the likes of Samsung, Motorola and Apple in the growing wearables category.

Fossil isn’t providing many concrete details about the Q Founder, but we do know that it is powered by an Intel SoC, and that it incorporates a full touch screen. French site Frandroid was also able to snag two images of the smartwatch in question, and it’s quite a looker for those that are still hip to wearing a watch these days.

The Q Founder apparently features a fully circular display with a rather beefy bezel. We say apparently because the black background in the above renders doesn’t allow us to see if the device has a “flat tire” shape (which houses the display driver) like the Moto 360. But given the size of the bezel — which puts it more in line with the Huawei Watch -- we’ll go ahead and assume that Fossil has avoided Motorola’s design faux pas.

Like all recently released Android Wear smartwatches, the Q Founder will support both iOS and Android smartphones, which is a plus for Apple fans that aren’t took keen on the rectangular face of the Apple Watch. The Fossil Q Founder will ship in time for the holiday shopping rush and will be priced from $275. Both leather and metal band options will be available at launch, with the latter likely adding significantly to the price tag.

Fossil isn’t the only non-tech company to announce its intentions for the Android Wear market in recent weeks. Earlier this month, Tag Heuer announced that it will unveil its $1,800 Android Wear smartwatch on November 9th. Like the Fossil Q Founder, Tag Heuer’s offering will be powered by an Intel processor.
