FOX Sees Scales Favoring Blu-Ray Over HD DVD

Fox Filmed Entertainment believes the next generation of DVD formats is starting to show a clearer leader, according to a recent report at Reuters.  Sony's Blu-Ray and Toshiba's HD DVD technologies have been battling it out in yet another replay of "VHS vs BETA".  With Blu-Ray being built into the Playstation 3 next year, and growing support for Sony's technology, FOX's co-chairman feels the leader is becoming more evident.  Additionally, FOX Filmed Entertainment declares that they have no plans to offer HD DVD content, calling Blu-Ray the superior technology.

"In terms of the number of companies involved, the PS3 (PlayStation game console) momentum and the level of content that is committed to Blu-ray, it does seem to have a pretty strong lead," James Gianopulos, co-chairman of Fox Filmed Entertainment, said at the Reuters Media and Advertising Summit in New York. "We believe that Blu-ray not only has the superior technology and backing in terms of strength to market but also the superior content protection," Gianopulos added.
