Fujitsu's LIFEBOOK AH530 GFX Ships With 1GB ATI External GPU
AMD may be killing off their ATI namesake on GPUs, but we all know
graphics are still mega-important. And so does Fujitsu, evidently. The
company's new LIFEBOOK AH530 GFX is one of the most powerful gaming
notebooks around, but you'd never know by looking at the case. It's a
small, sleek machine that looks like a standard student laptop or maybe
even a stylish business PC. There's no 2"-thick chassis or 18 fan vents
to be found.
The trick here is the external GPU, which allows the notebook to remain small and nimble while giving hardcore gamers the ability to beef up the frame rates whenever they feel like attaching a graphics card. The notebook really is the best of both worlds. There's an on-board ATI Mobility Radeon HD550v with 1GB of RAM able to push through Blu-ray movies and modern games, but the integrated set will handle standard Office duties fine when the ATI card isn't needed. Intel's Core 2010 lineup is there on the CPU end, with a 15.6" display, HDMI output, two color options (blue and black), a spill-resistant keyboard and a full number pad rounding things out. It's available to pre-order now across the EMEA region, with the first shipments planned for shipment in mere days. Hopefully it will make a North American debut shortly (with a price that's not too painful).
