Samsung Galaxy Fold Relaunches Today In South Korea, U.S. Arrival Set For October

Samsung has had a rough time with the launch of the Galaxy Fold smartphone. The smartphone went up for preorder, sold well, but failed quickly when in the hands of reviewers causing Samsung to cancel that launch and rework the smartphone. Samsung has now announced the availability for the Galaxy Fold in the U.S.

On Wednesday of this week, Samsung announced that the Galaxy Fold would be available in the United States next month, meaning October. The smartphone will launch in South Korea on September 6th. The September 6th launch of the Galaxy Fold in South Korea was confirmed by a report late in August. Pricing for the smartphone will be the same that Samsung announced previously, meaning $1,980 in the States without a contract. Americans will have two color options: Cosmo Black and Space Silver. 

For those who don't remember the specs of the Galaxy Fold, the smartphone has a 7.3-inch AMOLED main display that folds with a resolution of 2048 x 1536. The cover display is a 4.6-inch 1680 x 720 Super AMOLED. Galaxy Fold buyers get 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage along with a 4380 mAh internal battery.

The camera on the cover of the smartphone is a 10MP f/2.2 unit for selfies. The front camera on the main screen is a 10MP F/1.9 4K video camera with an 8MP f/2.2 Dual Pixel PDAF live focus unit. The rear main camera is a 12MP unit capable of 4K video recording and more. Samsung also fits the Galaxy Fold with a wide-angle rear lens and a rear telephoto camera with 2x zoom.
