Gallery Go Is A Powerful, Lightweight Google Photos Android App For Offline Use

Gallery Go was introduced at the Google for Nigeria event. The gallery automatically organizes a user’s photos by people, selfies, nature, animals, documents, videos and movies without the user needing to manually label their photos. User can also create organizational folders if they would prefer. The app includes simple editing tools as well. Users can rotate and crop their photo, apply filters, and utilize tools such as “auto enhance”.
Most importantly, Gallery Go works offline, uses less data than other photo apps, and only takes up 10MB on your device. All of the above features such as photo editing and organization work offline. Users can also view, copy and transfer photos to and from SD cards.
What is the difference between Gallery Go and the existing Google Photos app? First, Google Photos will use up 130 MB. Second, Google Photos includes a more robust selection of editing tools. Third, many Google Photos features are best used online. For example, users are able to share photos and libraries, invite other users to add to their albums, copy and translate text, and identify plants and animals.
Last, although Google Photos takes up more room on your device, it also offers more photo storage options. Users are able to back up and access an unlimited number of photos and videos for free for up to 16 megapixels and 1080p HD on photos.google.com. Users can then delete the photo from their device if it has been backed up. These features are not available to Gallery Go users, who will need to rely on their device storage and SD cards.
Gallery Go will likely be a good option for those with limited data and storage options or for those who want more streamlined editing options. Gallery Go is currently available for free for devices running Android 8.1 (Oreo) or higher. It will likely come pre-installed on Itel S15 and select A55 devices beginning next month.
