Gears 5 Gets Thrilling New Trailer And September 10 Release Date On Xbox One And PC

Microsoft gave up some details on the highly anticipated game Gears 5 at E3 2019. One of the big details was a launch date; Gears 5 will land on September 10 on Xbox Game Pass or preorder. Microsoft had previously announced that the game would be part of the lineup for the new Xbox Games Pass For Windows 10, which was also confirmed at E3 2019. Gears 5 is bigger than ever with five game modes and the game promises the deepest campaign mode yet.

Microsoft said of the game, "With all-out war descending, Kait Diaz breaks away to uncover her connection to the enemy and discovers the true danger to Sera – herself." The company also teased a tie in with Terminator Dark Fate, a move that hits theaters November 1. Gears 5 players who have an active Xbox Game Pass or pre-order any digital edition of the game before September 16, 2019, will get a Terminator character pack for free. That character pack has Sarah Connor and the T-800 from the movie, Vector Lancer skin, and seven days of Boost.

The five game modes include the Campaign that has players fighting the Swarm that has corrupted the Coalition robot army. Three-player campaign co-op is supported with three-player online or split-screen action. Gears Tours of Duty allow players to rank up from recruit to general with challenges, rewards, and the ability for players to show off loot they gather.

A Boot Camp mode is a place that players new to the franchise can learn the ropes of the game from basics to advanced combat techniques. Players can play as Jack, the personal flying support bot that protects allies and can damage enemies aimed at players who are new to Gears. According to Microsoft, Gears 5 is playable in 4K HDR at 60 fps on the Xbox One X console.

Those who preorder the Gears 5 Ultimate Edition will get the game, ultimate edition character boost pack, 30-days of Boost, early access to the game four days ahead of launch, the Terminator character pack, and entry to the Tech Test in July for $79.99. The standard version of the game is $59.99 and lacks early access and the Boost, but will get players into the Tech Test in July.
