GeForce Go 7900 GTX Preview
ExtremeTech have posted a preview of NVIDIA's new flagship mobile GPU dubbed the GeForce Go 7900 GTX. Installed in a new Dell XPS M1710 gaming notebook, this new mobile GPU is able to provide framerates that are on par with some of the fastest desktops money can buy. If you're into the thought of gaming on the run or a frequent LAN junky, NVIDIA's latest and greatest new GPU certainly warrants your attention.
Since the Go 7900 GTX on the surface just seems like a refresh of the Go 7800 GTX, we weren't expecting substantial improvements in performance over the earlier release. But the fine tuning of the architecture, plus the process shrink, seems to have paid substantial dividends. The GeForce Go 7900 GTX offers substantial improvements in performance over the older GPU, albeit at the cost of slightly increased power consumption.
