Alleged GeForce RTX 2060 Pricing And Performance Leak
In all likelihood, NVIDIA will soon be announcing its GeForce RTX 2060, which will flesh out its existing GeForce RTX series that currently consists of the GeForce RTX 2080 Ti, 2080, and 2070. How much will it cost, though? Well, according to the latest leak, NVIDIA will set the starting price at $349 for the GeForce RTX 2060.
That would make it the most affordable graphics card with dedicated hardware (RT cores) for real-time ray tracing. How the pricing shakes out in the wild, however, remains to be seen. According to the leaked reviewers guide that this information is coming from, the $349 MSRP applies to the Founders Edition model. I haven't seen the reviewer's guide myself, but according to Videocardz, the base and boost clocks will be the same on reference and Founders Edition models, as will the price. That would be a deviation from the rest of the product stack, in which the Founders Edition variants are factory overclocked, hence why they cost $100-$200 more.
In this case, the GeForce RTX 2060 is said to have 1,920 CUDA cores, 30 RT cores, 240 Tensor cores, 120 TMUs, and 48 ROPs. The reviewers guide supposedly lists the base clock at 1,365MHz and boost clock at 1,680MHz, and says the card can deliver up to 6.5TFLOPs of FP32 performance. It also boasts 6GB of GDDR6 memory on a 192-bit bus, according to the leak.
If all of the information is to believed, the GeForce RTX 2060 will offer performance comparable to a GeForce GTX 1070 Ti in non-ray-traced workloads (read: rasterization rendering). However, it will also be capable of partial ray-traced rendering, just like the other GeForce RTX graphics cards. Of course, this will come at an inevitable performance penalty. How big of a penalty?
