Gigabyte X11, U2442, and U2440 Ultra-lightweight Notebooks Officially Launch

It looks like a record-setting motherboard isn’t the only Gigabyte news worth sharing. The company also officially announced the Gigabyte X11, U2442, and U2440 ultra-lightweight notebooks today.

Gigabyte claims the X11 is the lightest 11.6-inch notebook out there at just 975g; the 0.3cm thick device is built from carbon fiber with a woven diamond technique for strength and lightness. Design-wise, the X11 also sports a hidden aluminum hinge and dual heat exhausts.

Under the hood, the X11 has a 3rd-generation Intel Core chip, Intel HD 4000 integrated graphics, 4GB DDR3 memory, 128GB SSD, USB 3.0, Bluetooth 4.0, 1.3MP webcam, and a backlit LED disply. Look for the X11 in July with a price tag of between $999-$1,299.

X11

Both the U2442 and U2440 are 14-inch notebooks with Ivy Bridge processors on board, and both sport NVIDIA 600M series discrete graphics and can be configured with 2GB or 4GB od DDR3 memory. There are a variety of storage options, including pairing for mSATA SSD boot drives with larger-capacity storage drives.

U2442

Although neither boast quite the dimensions and weight as the X11, both are slim and light in their own right. Further, both have THX TruStudio Pro technology on board and can be connected to an external display to turn the devices into a sort of home multimedia hub.

U2440

The U2442 will cost about the same as the X11, but the U2440 will come in far lower, at just $699. Both the U2442 and U2440 will be available in mid-June.
