Google Offers 20 Percent Loyalty Discount On Pixel 2 For Nexus Phone Owners

Pixel 2 XL

Google is rewarding "loyal Nexus" owners with a tantalizing discount on new hardware. In emails sent out to Nexus owners, Google pitches an exclusive 20 percent discount on the cost of a new Pixel 2 or Pixel 2 XL handset, valid through the end of February. Unfortunately the deal is not available to the general public, but for those who own a Nexus device, this is a pretty sweet discount on a high-end Android phone.

Exactly how much you stand to save depends on which model you go for, along with the amount of onboard storage. The Pixel 2 line ranges in price from $649 (Pixel 2 with 64GB) to $949 (Pixel 2 XL with 128GB). Here is a rundown of each SKU and how much Nexus owners can save on each one:
  • Pixel 2 64GB: $649 - 20 percent = $519.20 (save $129.80)
  • Pixel 2 128GB: $749 - 20 percent = $599.20 (save $149.80)
  • Pixel 2 XL 64GB: $849 - 20 percent = $679.20 (save $169.80)
  • Pixel 2 XL 128GB: $949 - 20 percent = $759.20 (save $189.80)
The more expensive the phone to begin with, the larger the discount, in terms of dollars saved (we're real math geniuses, aren't we?). At the top of the stack, the Pixel 2 XL with 128GB of built-in store approaches a grand at retail, but drops below $800 with the 20 percent discount.

Pixel Phones

Both the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL rock a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor and 4GB of RAM. They also share the same camera configuration—8-megapixel camera in the front for selfies and a 12.2-megapixel around back. Where they differ is in screen size and accompanying resolution. The Pixel 2 wields a 5-inch display with a 1920x1080 resolution, and the Pixel 2 XL kicks things up a notch with a 6-inch QHD+ display (2880x1440).
