Google 'Android M' Announcement Coming Late This Month At I/O Conference

The leak goes on to say that M will impact "millions" of devices for workers including small business, deskless workers, logistics, and even warehousing jobs. What could M possibly bring to businesses that hasn't been taken care of in Lollipop? We won't have to wait long to find out.

If you're a little concerned that businesses seems to be a major focal-point here, don't fret: this particular session is called 'Android for Work Update', so it clearly has a singular focus. For consumer features, we'll likely learn most of what there is to know over the next couple of months, with some backend stuff to trickle out at I/O.

So, who wants to take a guess as to what "M" will stand for? To help make the best guesses, take into consideration what Google's previous OSes have been called: Froyo (frozen yogurt), Gingerbread, Ice Cream Sandwich, Jelly Bean, KitKat, and of course, Lollipop. Here's my guess: Milkshake.

With the smell of a new Android OS in the air, we'd be remiss to ignore the fact that only 9% of Android devices in use are running the current Android version. This isn't atypical of what we've seen in the past, and might not matter much in the grand scheme given that Android M won't likely drop for at least four or five months.
