Google Daydream View VR Headset Arrives November 10th For $79

If you own a Google Pixel or Pixel XL Nougat flagship and are itchin’ to get your hands on the Daydream View VR headset, your wait will soon be over. Google announced today that the Daydream View will be in stores beginning on November 10th at the previously announced priced of $79.

United States residents will be able to purchase the Daydream View direct from the Google Store, Best Buy, or Verizon (which happens to be the only U.S. wireless carrier that sells the Pixel and Pixel in the U.S.). In addition to the U.S. launch, the Daydream View will also be available in Canada, the United Kington, Germany and Australia.

Over the next few weeks, Google and its content partners will be opening a number of experiences to help you take full advantage of the Daydream View (with a Daydream-ready smartphone, of course), including Hulu VR, YouTube VR, Google Play Movies, the INVASION! animated short, Star Chart VR, and a number of other interesting virtual reality endeavors.

For those not in the know, the Daydream View is more robust successor to Google Cardboard and weighs in a rather lightweight 220 grams (compared to 345 grams for the Samsung Gear VR). It has a plastic, foam and fabric construction (available in Snow, Slate, and Crimson colors), and includes a hinged panel to slide in your smartphone.

And in case you’re scared about catching eye herpes if you share your Daydream View with your friends, the face mark portion of the headset can be removed so that you can wash it with soap and water to remove any germs or oils that can accumulate from extended VR sessions.

We should also mention that the Daydream View comes with wireless motion controller that allows you to easily navigate your VR world. On the remote, you’ll find a trackpad, Home button, and volume controls to make navigation easier.

If you have already preordered your Daydream View, expect to see your headset arrive on or around November 10th. For everyone else, if you have a Daydream-ready smartphone, you should be able to go into a Best Buy location shortly to give the headset a try.
