Google Gmailify Brings Full Gmail Experience To Yahoo And Outlook Users

Spam is one of a handful of Internet scourges—we all hate it, and to some extent, we all suffer from it. That's one of the reasons why Gmail is so popular. Google's home brewed email service is really good (not perfect) at thwarting spam, and thanks to a new service called Gmailify, you can enjoy the exact same spam protection on your Yahoo! Mail or Hotmail/Outlook.com email address, too.

If you use of one of those email services but want the benefits of Gmail (which extend beyond spam protection), Gmailify is the answer.

Gmailify

"Gmailify links your existing account to Gmail so that you get all the bells and whistles—spam protection, inbox organization and even Google Now cards based on your mail—without having to leave your current address behind," Michael Käser, a software engineer for Google, stated in a Gmail blog post.

This is sort of an extension to what Google's been doing since early last year when it first began allowing users to access and manage their mail from other email providers through its Gmail app for Android. Google said it's received lots of feedback with many users asking for more of what Gmail has to offer, but without having to leave behind their existing email accounts.

This is great for people who would prefer to use Gmail and its features, but have already established a busy email address that would otherwise be a hassle to change. The downside is that for now it's only available to Yahoo! Mail and Hotmail/Outlook.com users, though Google says it plans to add support for more providers soon.
