Google Pixel 3 Event Confirmed For October 9, Here's What To Expect

Google has finally stepped up and confirmed the official event date for the unveiling of the much leaked and rumored Pixel 3 smartphones. The invites sent out are asking journalists to attend an event on October 9 in New York. That event date confirmed a rumor that was going around late in August that pegged that exact date for Google's official unveil. 

Hardware tipped for these devices in leaks so far suggest that the only real difference in the two will be screen size. Rumored specs include a Snapdragon 845 chipset, 4GB of RAM, 12MP rear camera, dual front cameras, wireless charging, and wired Pixel Buds included with both devices. The Pixel 3 XL is expected to have a 6.2-inch screen with the Pixel 3 packing 5.5-inches. Much of those rumored specs were in an unboxing video that made the rounds last month; the video is below.

Geekbench results leaked about a month ago that were claimed to be from a Pixel 3 XL smartphone. Those results claimed a 2426 single-core performance and 8355 multi-core performance. A few days back someone from Google left the Pixel 3 XL in a Lyft car and the driver recognized the device because it had leaked so much and snapped some quick pics of the smartphone, it looked exactly like other leaked images. Perhaps least desirable feature of the Pixel 3 XL -- to some people -- is that it has a notch in the screen along the lines of the iPhone X. In the push for screens to go ever larger and the bezels ever thinner the notch has become common as a place for manufacturers' front cameras and sensors.
