Google's Pixel 3a And Pixel 3a XL Budget Phones Leaked In These New Renders
It was only a couple of weeks ago when Google accidentally (maybe) confirmed plans to launch new Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL handsets, as it plastered references to the phones in its online store. Those references have since been removed, but the cat is out of bag. As we get closer to launch, a fresh leak gives us a first real glimpse of the upcoming handsets.
To be clear, there have been prior leaks, including one by a case maker. However, none of them have given a clean look at what the final products are likely to end up being. What we have here, though, are what appear to be official press renders of both the Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL, as obtained by Android Headlines.
One of the things we notice is that the Pixel 3a line ditches the notch as found on the regular Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL, and replaces it with a traditional bezel up top. Those are becoming somewhat rarer to see on new phones as device makers flock to full-front display designs, utilizing notches and punch-hole designs for the front camera (or even a pop-up camera).
These leaked renders also seemingly confirm the presence of a 3.5mm headphone jack. We don't get a clear shot of the audio port, but can see a grooved section at the top that sure looks like one, as viewed from the front.
If these renders are true to scale, then the Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL will be the same height, or at least close to it. However, the apparent Pixel 3a XL appears wider than the Pixel 3a. Previous rumors pointed to the Pixel 3a having a 5.6-inch display with a 2220x1080 resolution and the Pixel 3a XL having a 6-inch display with a 2160x1080 resolution, both by way of an OLED panel.
Both phones are also rumored to arrive with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 670 processor, 4GB of RAM, 64GB of onboard storage, a 12-megapixel rear camera, and a 3,000 mAh battery. Nothing is set in stone, though—it's entirely possible that the Pixel 3a XL will further differentiate itself with a faster processor (Snapdragon 710, perhaps) and a more capacious battery.
Google has already confirmed that it is launching something new on May 7, which we presumed to be these mid-range phones. It's undoubtedly not a coincidence that the renders also show Tuesday, May 7, on the home screen. So, we'll have to wait a few more weeks before getting official details on specs and pricing.
