Google Pixel And Pixel XL Completely Leaked Thanks To Carphone Warehouse Blunder

Almost anything you might have wanted to know about the Pixel and Pixel XL has been revealed in an extensive leak by Carphone Warehouse, a popular mobile phone retailer in the U.K. We say "almost anything" because some of the entries on the spec list appear to be generic placeholders, though much of what was leaked aligns with previous rumors.

The leak includes a bunch of official looking press renders and product shots. Keeping things simple, the tagline at the top for both the Pixel and Pixel XL reads, "Introducing Pixel. Phone by Google." This is followed by marketing shots and descriptions that are typical of a Google product page—there are various renders and descriptions for the different features that comprise the Pixel and Pixel XL.

Meet Pixel

Based on this latest leak, it appears as though the Pixel and Pixel XL will look identical to one another save for the physical size of each handset. This is made clear in a side-by-side shot that shows the front of the Pixel propped up against the rear of the taller Pixel XL.

As for the specs, it appears as though Carphone Warehouse was prepping the product pages for each phone in anticipation of Google launching the devices tomorrow at its press event. Those pages have since been taken offline, though some the content is still available to view by looking at cached versions in a Google search.

At the time that 9To5Google spied the pages, not all of the specs added up to what we thought we knew, such as listing a quad HD display for the smaller Pixel. But what we assume is a more updated cached version of the product page shows that the Pixel will sport a 5-inch Full HD display with a 12.3-megapixel camera, fingerprint sensor, 32GB or 128GB of storage, and Android 7.1 (Nougat). Other specs are not visible, though 9To5Google reports seeing Qualcomm's Snapdragon 821 SoC and 4GB of RAM listed as well, along with size and dimensions that align with previous rumors.

Google Pixel Photos

Same goes for the Pixel XL, though it will boast a 5.5-inch Quad HD display. Even neater, one of Google's press renders (and a quote by Carphone Warehouse) indicate that Pixel and Pixel XL owners will have unlimited cloud storage for full resolution photos.

"For the largest, and most pure Android experience ever, look no further than Google Pixel XL. The 5.5-inch Quad HD display looks amazing, and you can enjoy unlimited cloud storage with Google Photos," Carphone Warehouse says.

The photos also confirm the inclusion of a reversible USB Type-C charging port. Google claims that you'll be able to juice the Pixel and Pixel XL to get up to 7 hours of battery life in just 15 minutes.

Stay tuned, we'll have more on both devices after Google officially launches them.
