Google Play Pass Launching This Week, 350 Apps And Games With $1.99/Month Promo

Google has launched its Google Play Pass, its competition to Apple Arcade. Android users can register right now for the service, and for a limited time, it will cost $1.99 per month for the first year, and then it will cost $4.99 per month.

Google is offering a free ten-day trial to get gamers hooked. Play Pass has a wide range of games for mobile gamers to enjoy along with apps. Games include a range of titles including classics that are top sellers on the Google Play platform. Family managers can share access to Play Pass with up to five other family members so everyone can enjoy the games on their own devices.

To get started with Google Play Pass, open the Google Play Store app and then tap the three horizontal bars for menu, and then tap Play Pass. Google says that the service is launching with "hundreds of games and apps" and that new content will be added monthly. 

Android devices running Android 4.4 or higher can run Play Pass. At launch Play Pass is only available in the U.S., but Google says to stay tuned for information on international availability. Members can tell which games are part of Play Pass using the steps below.

  • On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google Play Store app Google Play.
  • At the bottom, tap Play Pass.
  • Select an app.
  • At the top, you’ll see if the app or game is part of Play Pass.
