Google Posts Nexus 5X OTA Update Bolstering Performance And Stability
Google is well aware of the complaints involving its Nexus 5X handset, and specifically those related to "sluggish performance," along with various other annoyances. The good news for Nexus 5X owners is that Google is pushing out an over-the-air (OTA) today to address those problems and other issues raised by customers.
"We have listened to your feedback, and this update includes a number of bug fixes that will improve overall stability, connectivity, and performance on the Nexus 5X. The March security update will be included with this OTA for the Nexus 5X," a Google community manager posted on Reddit. "I'll continue to monitor the threads here and pass along info to the product teams."
Google's being a little coy about the specifics of what the update will address, though in addition to generally slow and sluggish performance, one thing it will fix is the disappearing "Do not disturb until next alarm" issue. Otherwise, Nexus 5X owners can expect general improvements to Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity, and some carrier specific bug fixes.
We didn't run into any major issues ourselves when evaluating the Nexus 5X. It's a rather nice option in the smartphone space, especially considering its $349 price point.
