Google's Next Generation Nexus Smartphone Rumored To Arrive In October
There have been no shortage of rumors and speculation suggesting that Google is getting ready to unveil new hardware next month, and when there's this much smoke, you can typically expect to find fire. Or, in this case, you'll find the Nexus 9 with HTC likely in charge of manufacturing. As to when, mark your calendars for October 15th or 16th. Ah, but that's not all.
First things first -- those dates come courtesy of Android Authority and the "two different sources familiar with Google's plans" that it spoke with. Incidentally, the sources say that in addition to the Nexus 9 tablet, Google may unveil new phone hardware (could be the Moto Nexus) and a "new software initiative," which probably points to the release of Android L, or Lemon Meringue Pie.

Apparently Android L isn't supposed to be officially available until November 1st, so if that turns out to be true, then we're probably looking at an unveiling of the Nexus 9 tablet and new phone hardware on October 15th or 16th, with a release of both items to follow a couple of weeks later. Otherwise, it would be odd for Google to start selling new hardware based on a version of Android that's two weeks shy of being a generation old.
Either way, we're excited to see what Google has up its sleeve in terms of a new handset. The Moto Nexus, codenamed Shamu, is the most likely candidate. According to 9to5Google, it's real and it will be called Nexus 6 or Nexus X. Whatever its name ends up being, the device is said to have a massive 5.92-inch display with a body that's just a bit larger than that. It will reportedly sport a QHD resolution (2560x1440, 498ppi), 2.6GHz quad-core Snapdragon 805 processor, 3GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage, 13MP rear-facing camera, 2MP front-facing camera, and a 3,200 mAh battery.
