Google's Third-Gen Chromecast Leaks Again In Updated Smart TV Kit

Google just can't seem to keep a handle on all the leaks surrounding its upcoming October 9thhardware event. The Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL have leaked so much that about the only thing that remains a mastery are the flagship Android Pie phones' price tags. Likewise, the third-generation Chromecast made an early appearance last week when a Best Buy employee sold the unreleased product to a customer (who of course posted about it online).

Now, another retailer worker has leaked the next-generation Google Smart TV Kit. The bundle includes both a Google Home Mini and the third-generation Chromecast that we've already seen. Given that there is already a Smart TV Kit on sale as a Walmart-exclusive, it stands to reason that it was likely an eager-beaver Walmart employee that posted the image. It should be noted that the image, which was originally posted to Reddit, has since been taken down.

The current Google Smart TV Kit with a Google Home and second-generation Chromecast is priced at $74, so this new bundle will likely feature the same price when it is announced next week.

Debuting alongside the third-generation Chromecast will be the alleged Google Home Hub. This device leaked in mid-September and expands the Google Home smart assistant model with a 7-inch touch display. As you might expect, the Google Home Hub is expected to have tight integration with Google services like YouTube, Google Maps, Google Play Music and Google Photos. The device will also have support Bluetooth and 802.11ac Wi-Fi.

Not only will the Google Home Hub be competing against other similar Google-centric devices like the Lenovo Smart Display, but also the all-new, second-generation Amazon Echo Show.
